The DeCarTrans – Fuel Development Project is divided into three thematic areas:
- E) Project management and communication,
- C) Methanol-to-gasoline synthesis and fuel synthesis,
- D) Market introduction and standardisation,
which are grouped as follows:
WP C) Methanol-to-gasoline synthesis and fuel refinement.
C1) Plant and process development:
- Planning and conversion of the large-scale test plant for the continuous research production of quality-optimised synthetic gasoline.
C2) Catalyst regeneration
- Clarification of coke formation on the MtG catalyst and its influence on catalyst activity/selectivity as well as the development of counter- and regeneration strategies.
C3) Continuous research production
- Demonstration of the long-term operability of the technology and the catalyst
C4) Fuel blending and refinement
- Definition of the optimal fuel composition for 2030+
WP D) Market introduction and standardisation
D1 and D2) Tank-to-wheel accounting
- Evaluation of the CO2 balance
D1) Holistic process evaluation
- Technical-economic evaluation of the process chain including methanol supply
D2) RED certification
- Calculation of greenhouse gas emissions according to RED II methodology
WP E) Project management and communication
- Organisation of cooperation in the consortium and public relations work
