The first 15,000 litres of e-fuel Event<\/h1>\n

Driving cars in a climate-neutral way: This is possible with e-fuels. There are still too few of them in Germany, but in Freiberg (Saxony), research is underway on how to change this situation. There, an innovative process for the production of electric petrol from methanol is being developed. In the DeCarTrans<\/strong> project, ways of optimising the production of green petrol, i.e. e-fuels, are being developed.<\/p>\n

A total of 380,000 litres of green fuel<\/strong> will be produced through the modernisation of large-scale test facilities. The aim is to increase technological maturity in preparation for market entry. The starting material is methanol from sustainable sources. The e-fuels thus produced will only be used for research purposes. The large-scale test facility for synthetic gasoline from electric sources was built in 2009 at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg as the first and largest of its kind in Germany. Funding from the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport enables the optimisation of gasoline synthesis and the supply of fuels in sufficient quantities for demonstration purposes.<\/p>\n

The Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport is funding the project to the tune of 15 million euros. Federal Minister Dr. Volker Wissing<\/strong> visited the large-scale test facility to load the first 15,000 litres.<\/p>\n

“This milestone shows that the work on the advancement of e-fuels is fruitful and that the development is very dynamic. It is only right that we support it with federal funds. Every euro is well invested. This pioneering project shows what is possible now and what will be possible in the future in terms of fuels,”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
